Quick and Easy Experiment

Well I sit here at the computer just to avoid returning to the lab. Currently I'm suppose to be running a "quick" and "easy" experiment, but like all research it is neither quick nor easy. Day after day I find one problem after another that prevents be from getting this stupid thing done and over with. What makes it even more frustrating is that I don't need the data...it would be one thing if I was in search of something to write my dissertation on, but I have all the data I could possibly want just sitting there asking to be analyzed. The upside to this frustrating moment is that it makes me think of Homer Simpson and how can't I smile thinking of Homer quotes.

At this moment I'm reminded of Homer after trying to assemble this sweet BBQ pit. He accidentally drops the pieces into the wet cement and just tries to assemble it really fast. In the end it is a complete mess and Homer looses it and says

Homer: Why must everything in life be so hard? Why must I fail at every attempt at masonry!?

Now I don't think I feel as bad as Homer, but I can relate to some of his sentiments...perhaps I would state it like this right now.

Brian: Why must research be so hard? Why must I fail at every attempt to acquire skin-friction measurements!?

It tricked me at first when Homer stared at the box before what he "built" was revealed.

Right now I have Homer's voice in my head: Why! must! everything! in life! be! so hard!!!

Oh, I can't wait to see the movie.

A Simpsons' movie?? Or the movie of Brian's experiment? It could be called "Skin Friction" and everyone would go to it thinking it was about something else. :) eeeewww- please censor your posts!!!

Why are you running the experiment if it doesn't help you with your dissertation? Do you need something from it to analyze your data?
